In Greek mythology the satyrs are spirits of the woods. These men from the waist down are goat, the upper part of the body is human. They also have the horns, which have been depicted in many fashions. (curled, sweeping, 'antelope')

Satyrs are well known to be tricksters, or messengers to Lords and Ladies of the wood. One of the most famous is Puke, who served King Oberon (Midsummer-Night's Dream
